Body language is something we are not always aware of in everyday life. When we know what our different body language means it can be very helpful to us in navigating life and making better decisions for ourselves and others.

Arms Akimbo

This is something you see displayed quite often when a stranger approaches an unknown area, like someone’s home or a place abroad. People usually feel territorial and display arms akimbo. Women showcase this behaviour quite often as well when it comes to arguments. It’s important to always keep in mind that things are much closer to escalate further than normal. Personally whenever I notice this in a situation I try to distance myself.

There is a significant difference behind the two versions of arms akimbo. Look for if the thumbs are displayed in front or not on the hands. One version is more severe and requires you to be much more careful.

In conclusion, arms akimbo is usually preferred to not be around or display yourself. It’s a clear sign to be more on edge than usual.

Hand position in your pocket

Having your thumb in your pocket with 4 fingers outside of it is a weak and insecure body language. You see it very often in vlogs of people walking or on posters of bands. It’s always the most submissive band member displaying this piece of body language. You know from this alone that the person is likely insecure without ever meeting him or her. We all do well in avoiding this behaviour. All you display is weakness.

The variant of this is four fingers in your pocket with the thumb outside of it. This is instead a sign of confidence. Adjust this with other high confidence body language…
