I Begin Anew
A poem about a boy holding a plant in his left hand. He doesn't know where to plant his rediscovered happiness in the world.
Pulled in no direction,
a confused state that never seems to expire,
with a sad puppy look I ask,
why is there no love for me anywhere?
I’m a boy carrying this plant in my hand,
an endless walk through life,
nowhere and everywhere is the same,
I don’t have a place I can yet call home.
An outcast and ridiculed,
never good enough for anyone or anything,
I seek fame but it’s this empty glass,
it never fills up no matter how much talent I possess.
I keep being reminded,
one day I will grow old,
still I’m afraid that no one cares to ask,
how was your life?
I look odd walking daily with a plant in hand,
there is a store showcasing kitchen magnets,
wouldn’t that be nice,
a magnetic force steering me towards safety and a good life.
